Note: are you a Dutch publisher looking to set up a connection through CB? See our CB-specific article here.
We set up a dedicated SFTP server for you. You upload ONIX messages to it, at a frequency that suits your systems. We process each message and add or update your products in the Bookpact library.
Onboarding takes three steps. First, you send us your onboarding details. Then you will receive your connection details, and finally you can upload your catalog.
Step 1: Send us your onboarding details
Please send the answers to all questions below in an email to support@bookpact.ai.
Your catalogue
- Initial volume: How many products will your first upload contain?
- Cover images: Will you deliver cover images with your ONIX messages? (Recommended.)
- Content files: Will you deliver content files (EPUB, PDF, audio) with your ONIX messages? (Not required for your initial catalog.)
- Publisher identifiers: Please send a list of the
<PublisherIdentifier>values you use, each with its name identifier type (ONIX Codelist 44). We use these to link each product to the correct publisher.
Your delivery process
- Frequency: How often do you expect to upload messages?
- Message size: Will you send many products per message, or one message per update?
- Timing: Will you batch updates (for example, once a day), or send them as they happen in your system?
Your team and requirements
- Contacts: Who is your technical contact, and who is your operational contact? They can be the same person.
- Requirements: Can you meet the technical requirements below? If not, tell us which ones, and we'll find a path forward together.
Your SSH public key
10. Send us the SSH public key(s) you'll use to authenticate with our SFTP server.
Only share your public key (for example, id_ed25519.pub). Never send your private key.
If your system doesn't support SSH key-based authentication for SFTP, we can set up username/password access instead.
Step 2: Receive your connection details
We'll send you:
- SFTP connection details: hostname, port and username, plus a password if you're not using key-based authentication.
- An initial load plan (only for catalogues of more than 20,000 products): how we'll handle your first upload together.
Step 3: Upload your catalog
- Upload your initial catalog to the
/uploaddirectory. - Send ongoing updates (new products, changes and deletions) as ONIX messages to the same directory.
We monitor every file we process. If a file can't be processed, we'll contact your technical contact to resolve it with you.
Technical requirements
If your system can't meet any of these requirements, contact us before you start.
